Gallied Gales

An XR Experience

A Speculation
On Agency

Gallied Gales places players in a fantasy world crippled by worsening environmental conditions. The player, an employee and environmental surveyor for a global, industrial polluter is asked to explore an isolated preserve and report on state of its environment.

Throughout this journey, the player is prompted with direct and inadvertent decision-making paths. Will they hold their company accountable for their environmental impact or will they turn a blind eye?

Decision Making

Engineering Player Response

Throughout Gallied Gales, players are prompted with direct and environmental story cues that prompt decision making. Some decisions are clear: signoff on a faulty report or call out corporate malpractice? Others are subtle: speak up about suspicious activity or turn a blind eye? These choices, whether small or large, tip the scales of the story and lead players to unique endings, reflecting real implications of each choice and action.

Virtual Immersion

Buy-In Through Imagination

Virtual reality presents a framework for players to become bodily and wholly invested in the narrative and decision making processes the narrative presents. It forces players to physically reckon with and exist within the consequences of their decisions.

Fantasy and Parallelism

Maintaining Real-World Applications

Though out game exists in an entirely fictional, otherworldly environment, it was crucial that the impact of the player's decisions were grounded in realism such that the ethics of the game could be applied to real-world environmental efforts. The fantastical elements of the game had to make the implications of its narrative more approachable without losing its effective value.
